In 1986 California voters approved Proposition 65, a right-to-know law that informs California consumers of products that could contain chemicals known to the State of California to be harmful. Proposition 65 has expanded over the years to include hundreds of natural and synthetic chemicals, including everything from gasoline to aloe vera. One of the items on this list is formaldehyde, a naturally occurring chemical in our environment. Like most furniture, some of our products use adhesives or resins that contain a miniscule amount of this chemical.

Proposition 65 provides a safe harbor limit for formaldehyde that tells us at what point it can begin to affect the body. We are proud to say that our rigorous chemical testing procedures show our products are well below this limit. Along with our extremely high standards of production and safety, these tests give us confidence our products are completely safe. Proposition 65 still requires us to alert our California customers of its presence, however small. Since we cannot know at the time of production where each product will be sold, we have decided to include this warning for every customer.
