Bungalow 5 Iron & Marble Family Sculpture – Bronze

The Bench statue depicts a modern family in a recognizable post-war British style. A peaceful, seated couple holds young children. At the time, sculptures like these were understood to express relief, normalcy and a return to family life now that WWII was over. Our statue echoes pre-war art’s distinctive voids that accent negative space. The impasto finish has the marks and texturing you might expect to see in a maquette for a larger work. We are family.
